Employment Advice
This Department is headed by Brian Donnan who has many years' experience in advising both employers and employees on a variety of subjects, including the drafting of Contracts of Employment, disciplinary grievance and appeal procedures and contractual disputes and employment related Tribunal claims for both employees and employers.
For employees and workers
We offer advice to employees and workers on a wide range of every day and specialist employment issues, whether casual or agency workers' rights, or assisting employees with unfair dismissal or discrimination cases.
If you are an employee or about to take up employment, we can advise you on the terms of your contract and we can advise you of your rights during the course of your employment. If you are faced with problems at work, we can advise you on your rights during any grievance or disciplinary procedure and help in assisting you to resolve any issue where you feel you have not been treated fairly by your employer - without the need to go to the Employment Tribunal.
If internal resolution is not possible, or if your employment has been terminated, we have a wealth of experience advising employees in bringing a claim with the Employment Tribunals for:
- unfair dismissal
- wrongful dismissal
- outstanding notice monies or other monies due to you
- redundancy payment
- deductions from your wages
- unpaid holiday pay
- discrimination or harassment on the grounds of your sex, racial or ethnic origin, disability, sexual orientation, religion or belief or age
- equal pay
- maternity or other family-friendly complaints
as well as helping you get the best possible severance package or financial settlement.
We can also advise if you have a stress related injury or related injury, or any other type of injury that may have arisen whilst at work.
We understand the financial difficulties people often face following dismissal and we offer free interviews and have a range of funding options available, including no-win no-fee agreements.
For employers
We work closely with our clients and firmly believe that prevention is better than cure. Employment law remains one of the fastest changing areas of law, and can prove a costly area for mistake, which means that accurate and up-to-date advice is essential in protecting your business.
Having policies in place for your workforce - and correctly applying them - remains one of the key necessities for any business employing individuals. We offer a full selection of services, including the drafting and advice on the terms and conditions of employment contracts for external workers and the drafting of grievance and disciplinary procedures to ensure that your business is secure from often easily preventable claims from current or former employees.
With a client base of businesses of varying sizes, we understand your commercial needs and all our advice is tailored to the specific requirements of your business.
